The Brass City Regional Food Hub – 359 Mill Street
- Waterbury Development Corporation began this project in 2017 on behalf of Brass City Harvest and the City of Waterbury.
-
The Brass City Regional Food Hub is located at 359 Mill Street and 777 South Main Street in Waterbury, CT. The Brass City Food Hub is not isolated but is part of the City’s prioritization of adaptive reuse and redevelopment in the Mad River Corridor. The Food Hub has investments totaling over $2M from Municipal, State, Federal, and philanthropic funding sources.

359 Mill St. was remediated, and the majority was redeveloped in 2019-2020 (Phase I), with a partnership between the City of Waterbury and the non-profit organization, Brass City Harvest, coming to fruition. Phase I of the Food Hub facility comprises a 6,000 sq ft and provides a year-round “farmers market” to the South End neighborhood, along with a large-scale washing station for produce. The Food Hub supports the economy through the creation of jobs and workforce development opportunities and distributes USDA Farmers to Families food boxes to area residents.
