This multi-year program will replace and upgrade underground utilities along West Main Street from the Green to the Naugatuck River. The work includes sanitary sewers, storm sewers, water mains, and related infrastructure dating back to the late 1800s. These upgrades will improve service reliability, reduce maintenance issues, and support future streetscape improvements in the same corridor.
Status: Design and Funding (construction in phases 2026–2029)
Key Partners: SLR Engineering (Design)
Highlights:
• Replacement of sanitary and storm sewer systems
• New water distribution and drainage improvements
• Utility work coordinated with future streetscape upgrades
• Designed to support long-term infrastructure reliability
Construction Phasing: Work will be delivered in multiple packages, including sewer lining, water distribution and drainage, transmission main improvements, and culvert upgrades. Phasing allows the project to align with funding cycles and minimize service disruptions.
