Following a 2016 fire that severely damaged multiple structures at the former Risdon manufacturing site, the Waterbury Development Corporation (WDC) led a full demolition and cleanup effort. In 2018, all remaining buildings were demolished down to the concrete slabs and debris was removed for off-site disposal, clearing the way for future redevelopment of the property.
